Changing Travel Patterns Drive Demand for Flexible Hospitality Options in Abuja

Image
By Timi Gabriel The growing diversity of travel needs is influencing how hospitality providers approach accommodation, with increasing attention being given to offering options that suit both short-term and extended stays. Speaking on the trend, Tosin Adeyinka Adegbesan , a consultant with Aviel  Suites and Hotels , said travellers now have varying expectations depending on the purpose and duration of their visits. While some guests prefer the structure and services associated with hotels, others seek the flexibility, privacy and space offered by serviced apartments. He noted that this shift has contributed to the growing popularity of short-let apartments alongside conventional hotel accommodation, particularly among business travellers, corporate guests, families, couples, executives and visitors on temporary assignments. According to Tosin, guest expectations have also evolved beyond the availability of accommodation to include reliable utilities, internet co...

The Ecosystem Bet: Why PairRide Is Building Its Company From the Driver Up

Image
By Bolaji Adaku The standard startup playbook scales by subsidising customers and squeezing supply. PairRide is running the inverse and treating the driver, not the rider, as the centre of the business. The clearest expression of that is the commission. At 7%, scoped to cover app maintenance and operations rather than profit, PairRide is choosing to make its margin almost everywhere except the fare. PairRide is built on the belief that drivers are more than just people who complete trips; they are long-term partners in the platform's growth. Instead of viewing drivers as a low-cost workforce that can easily be replaced when they stop driving, PairRide treats them as valued customers who deserve tools, services, and earning opportunities that help them build sustainable careers. This approach shapes how the company designs its business model. Rather than maximizing revenue by taking a large share of every fare, PairRide focuses on helping drivers earn more, reduce operating costs, ...

Passy Waited Three Years to Launch MyPassyApp. That Decision May Define the Company

Image
By Yemi Osinogini Most founders race to launch Passy chose to wait. Three years ago, MyPassyApp was close to entering the market. Instead of releasing an unfinished product, the founder continued building, testing and improving it. That patience has now produced a platform designed to simplify digital finance through cryptocurrency trading, gift card services, airtime purchases and bill payments. The product grew from lessons learned while operating Passyxchange, where years of customer interaction revealed one consistent demand: people wanted faster service, greater reliability and a platform they could trust. The official launch reflected both business progress and personal milestones. Hosted by Uti Nwachukwu, the event welcomed creators Valking and Mbah alongside customers, supporters and family. One emotional moment came when Passy’s father shared the story behind the business and offered prayers for the company’s future, reminding guests that behind every startup is a family that ...

Faith Must Produce Results: Why Africa Needs Prayer, Wisdom, Strong Families and Productive Leadership

Image
By Pastor Goodluck Ochiagha Founder & Lead Minister, Magen Covenant Ministry Africa is one of the most religious continents in the world, yet many families continue to struggle with poverty, broken relationships, unemployment, poor leadership and a lack of direction. This raises an important question: If we believe in God, why are so many people still trapped by problems that can be solved through both faith and wisdom? At Magen Covenant Ministry, we believe that God hears prayer and answers prayer. But we also believe that God calls His people to pursue wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Prayer and wisdom are not opposites; they work together. Faith opens the door, while wisdom helps us walk through it. That conviction defines our ministry. Our mission is to help people know the One True God, understand His Word, strengthen their families, develop practical wisdom, discover purpose and become productive members of society. Every day at 6:00 a.m., I lead the Global Morning Prayer...

Nigerian Environmental Scientist Leads Innovative In-Situ Remediation Project, Advancing Sustainable Oil Spill Cleanup

Image
A Nigerian environmental scientist,  Julius Odemi Brown  – The CEO of Ecofrost Solutions Limited, has led the successful implementation of an innovative in-situ remediation programme that restored crude oil-contaminated soil and groundwater at an oil and gas facility in the Niger Delta, highlighting the growing role of indigenous expertise in environmental restoration within Nigeria's energy sector. The remediation project employed two complementary treatment technologies:  enhanced bioremediation  for hydrocarbon-contaminated soil and  in-situ chemical oxidation (ISCO)  for contaminated groundwater. The integrated approach enabled the remediation team to address pollution at its source while minimizing excavation, reducing waste generation, and limiting disruption to surrounding ecosystems. Environmental specialists describe the project as an example of the industry's gradual transition from conventional "dig-and-dump" remediation practices t...

“Build a Great Product, and Customers Will Come.” That's why Most Startups Fail

Image
After helping generate more than $5 billion in revenue, Edidiong Ekong says founders are being taught the wrong lesson. Around 100 million new businesses are launched globally every year. Nearly 20% fail within their first year. Roughly half disappear within five years. Despite these odds, founders continue to receive some of the most familiar advice in entrepreneurship: build a great product. Growth strategist and entrepreneur Edidiong Ekong believes that advice is incomplete and, in many cases, actively misleading. After helping generate more than $5 billion in cumulative revenue across fintech, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, payments, and digital entertainment, Ekong has reached a conclusion that challenges one of entrepreneurship's most widely accepted beliefs. "The startup industry has spent decades telling founders to build better products," says Ekong. "Yet history is full of superior products that disappeared while inferior competitors dominated entire ...

Nigerian Brands Pivot To Nostalgia Marketing To Capture Consumer Attention

Image
By Naomi Jacob A growing wave of nostalgia is reshaping the advertising landscape in Nigeria, as brands increasingly look to the past to win over customers in 2026. From the return of classic jingles to the use of retro packaging, companies across major cities are turning back the clock to build stronger connections with their audience. This shift marks a clear departure from the sleek, minimalist branding that many Nigerian startups previously borrowed from Silicon Valley. Industry observers note that this trend is more than just a creative choice. By reactivating familiar memories, such as the iconic "Mama Do Good" campaign recently brought back by Indomie, brands are tapping into deep-seated positive emotions. For companies competing for attention on crowded social media feeds, this emotional pull is proving more effective than flashy, modern design. Indomie is far from the only brand making this play. Fan Milk Nigeria continues to benefit from the nostalgic appeal of ...
