Under the deal, Blue Seal will manufacture and supply all drilling, completions and stimulation chemicals required by Geoplex for its drilling campaigns. Blue Seal will also provide technical consultancy support services to enhance drilling efficiency.

Following the signing of the MOU in Lagos, Dr. Doyle Edeni, CEO of Blue Seal Energy Group, and Engr. Wole Ogunsanya, GCEO of Geoplex Drillteq Limited, issued a joint statement hailing the strategic partnership as a model for deepening collaboration between stakeholder companies to promote local content participation in the oil and gas service industry.

“The summary of our approach is alignment of resources by companies with unique skills to improve overall efficiency and maximize outcomes,” the executives stated.

The partnership targets key industry challenges such as, high import dependency for drilling chemicals and elevated operational costs in Africa’s oil and gas drilling sector. According to a 2025 Deloitte audit reported in ThisDay, Nigeria’s drilling costs remain 40-50% higher than regional peers despite the country controlling 60% of West Africa’s $80 billion oil market.

By locally manufacturing and supplying chemicals, the collaboration directly supports local content policies that have raised Nigerian participation from 26% in 2017 to between 56-61% in recent years.

This partnership is expected to reduce logistics delays commonly associated with chemical imports across Africa, while supporting the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board’s (NCDMB) goal of achieving 70% local content participation by 2027. The collaboration also enhances operational efficiency in high-demand areas such as Nigeria’s offshore drilling sector.
