Passy Waited Three Years to Launch MyPassyApp. That Decision May Define the Company
By Yemi Osinogini
Most founders race to launch Passy chose to wait. Three years ago, MyPassyApp was close to entering the market. Instead of releasing an unfinished product, the founder continued building, testing and improving it.
That patience has now produced a platform designed to simplify digital finance through cryptocurrency trading, gift card services, airtime purchases and bill payments.
The product grew from lessons learned while operating Passyxchange, where years of customer interaction revealed one consistent demand: people wanted faster service, greater reliability and a platform they could trust.
The official launch reflected both business progress and personal milestones. Hosted by Uti Nwachukwu, the event welcomed creators Valking and Mbah alongside customers, supporters and family.
One emotional moment came when Passy’s father shared the story behind the business and offered prayers for the company’s future, reminding guests that behind every startup is a family that believes in the vision.
Rather than relying only on speeches, the company demonstrated the product live by processing ₦100,000 in withdrawals and giving away a $100 Apple Gift Card.
Less than two months after launching on May 15, MyPassyApp says it has grown to over 1,500 users without paid advertising or a formal PR campaign growth driven primarily by referrals and community support.
For Passy, however, the launch is not the destination.
The company’s ambition is to build one of Africa’s most trusted digital finance platforms by making everyday financial services simpler, faster and more dependable.
If the early momentum is sustained, MyPassyApp’s greatest achievement may not be that it waited three years to launch—but that the wait gave it a stronger foundation for the years ahead.
