Nigerian Tech Firm Launches Afterwordmail to Give Businesses More Control Over Email Corrections
Aurum Digital Consulting Limited has launched Afterwordmail, a new email platform from Lagos designed to give businesses greater control over messages after they have been sent.
The platform allows users to modify the subject line and body of an email within a specified period and also gives them the ability to change attachments.
That means a revised quotation, corrected invoice or updated contract can be made available through the original link rather than being sent as another attachment that could be confused with the first.
The company said the product was created around a familiar business challenge: correction emails can easily be overlooked, stored separately from the original message or fail to reach people who received a forwarded copy.
Why Afterwordmail is different
Afterwordmail does not attempt to remove a message from a recipient's inbox.
Instead, it provides a link through which recipients access content that remains under the sender's control.
Once the sender makes an amendment, the same link displays the updated version. The recipient can access the latest version whether they open the link immediately or several days later.
The system is also independent of email providers. Recipients do not need to use a particular mail service or install an application.
The platform keeps an audit trail
Editable communication can create concerns about whether a sender can quietly change what was originally communicated.
Afterwordmail addresses that issue by maintaining a permanent version record.
Users have 48 hours after sending to make changes. Following that period, the message is locked and cannot be overridden.
Every version is retained, with timestamps showing when changes occurred and when previous versions were superseded. Attachment information is also included in the record.
Recipients are automatically notified when a message is updated.
According to Aurum Digital Consulting, even the sender cannot change or delete the version history.
The company said ordinary email already contains opportunities for content to be altered, particularly when messages are forwarded and quoted text is edited.
“In most mail clients, someone forwarding an email can edit the text they are quoting, and the person receiving that forward has no way of telling from the message itself,” it said.
Designed in Lagos, aimed beyond Nigeria
The company said Afterwordmail was developed in Lagos with a market that extends beyond Nigeria in mind.
It is priced locally at ₦3,500 monthly after a 30-day free trial.
Aurum Digital Consulting said the product is relevant to businesses across different countries because the underlying problem is not specific to one market.
“There is an assumption that software built in Lagos is built only for Lagos,” the company said. “This solves a problem that a freelancer in Abuja, an accounting firm in Nairobi and an exporter in London all have in exactly the same form.”
The company said Afterwordmail is being used in communications involving invoices, quotations, payment instructions and event information.
Building specialised software from Nigeria
Afterwordmail is part of Aurum Digital Consulting's wider portfolio of vertical SaaS products.
The company's other offerings include ClaimLensIQ, a claims fraud intelligence platform for Nigerian insurers; WingWatch Nigeria, which focuses on aviation consumer rights; Football FanIQ, a sports fan intelligence platform; and InsightEx, a capital markets intelligence dashboard covering the Nigerian Exchange.
Aurum Digital Consulting says its strategy is to build technology specifically for industries where generic software may not fit local conditions.
“The pattern we keep finding is that these industries are underserved, not because the problems are unusual, but because nobody has built for them specifically from here,” the company said.
Afterwordmail is available from Aurum Digital Consulting Limited and comes with a 30-day free trial for new users.
